I don't care what type of driving it will be used for, I think it was pretty obvious he wasn't heading out to the drag strip. If this will be a second car for him, than figure out which will be a more fun car to have. I don't think the lack of 50ish hp is going to rule out the Z for your dad either. Some times the problems/maintenance are part of the fun of owning a car, some father/son wrenching time can be an enjoyable bonding experience. I also enjoy the exclusivity of my Z, there are a half a dozen g coupes that park in the garage where I work, but I have the only Z there. Same thing goes for when I'm out and about driving, I see lots of g coups but z32's are a rare site. And the z32, 2+0 or 2+2, looks way better than any g coupe, period.
